CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — There are roughly 300 million vehicles in the United States, and most of them need motor oil to keep running.
But once that oil comes out of an engine, where it goes next matters.
This week’s Clean Currents takes a look at how recycling used motor oil can keep it from reaching groundwater and eventually our waterways.
“Motor oil basically just keeps the internal parts lubricated on the motor,” Blackwell Automotive owner Richmond Blackwell said. “And then you have other oils like the power steering fluid is an oil based, and the transmission fluid is, and it helps keep the temperature of your transmission low.”…
