GHENT, WV (WVNS) — Thousands of people remain without power after severe weather occurred in the region.
According to a Storm Response Update press release from Appalachian Power, an estimated 13,300 customers are without power in West Virginia, and approximately 1,700 remain without power in Virginia.

The press release stated that outages can be found throughout the Mountain State, with the Charleston, Hamlin, and Wayne areas dealing with “some of the most significant storm damage,” and in Virginia, the Roanoke, Clintwood, and Lynchburg areas have some of the highest concentrations of outages.
According to the Storm Response Update, crews worked overnight to restore power for customers after damage was caused in Appalachian Power’s service territory due to severe weather.
