RADFORD, Va. (WDBJ) – Four men have been sentenced in U.S. District Court for an April 2025 shooting incident, the United States Attorney’s Office Western District of Virginia announced on Tuesday.
Prosecutors say the three men who conspired to enter the home with the intent to steal cannabis and the dealer (Leonard Jr.) who were sentenced to prison included:
- Trevion Trevor Johnson, 23, of Roanoke, was sentenced to 108 months.
- Dominick Latrell Anderson, 24, of Roanoke, was sentenced to 96 months.
- Sidney Elijah Schwartz, 23, of Elliston, Va., was sentenced to 48 months,
- Robert Jason Leonard Jr., 48, of Fairlawn, Va., was sentenced to 36 months.
Court documents say around 3:00 p.m. on April 17, 2025, Johnson, Anderson, and Schwartz entered the home of Leonard with the purpose of stealing cannabis. On the morning of the robbery, Anderson, using a false name, arranged with Leonard a transaction involving around 1.5 pounds of cannabis.
Leading up to the robbery, court documents also said a plan was created and a role was assigned each to Johnson, Anderson, Schwartz and a juvenile accomplice. Johnson was given a gun by the juvenile earlier and his job was to maintain control of Leonard to ensure the group’s safe retreat. The juvenile agreed to wait in the getaway vehicle.
“During the encounter, Johnson suspected that Leonard’s wife was armed, causing Johnson to brandish a 9mm pistol and aim it at Leonard’s wife. A physical altercation ensued between Johnson and Leonard, during which Johnson discharged his firearm, shooting Leonard in the buttocks,” according to court documentation…
