The company is one of the largest construction manufacturers in the world and has its North American headquarters in Pooler.
The record was set with a hydrogen-powered car, the JCB Hydromax, averaging 406.3 miles per hour over two runs across Utah’s Bonneville Salt Flats Tuesday.
The car and the record
The 32-foot-long Hydromax was powered by two of JCB’s hydrogen-powered digger engines. The team behind the vehicle spent more than a year designing and building it.
Wing Commander Andy Green drove the car to the record, breaking his own previous mark of 350 mph, which he set at the same location using diesel engines 20 years ago…
