NORMAN, Okla. (KFOR) – A large grass fire is being reported at 24th Avenue Northeast & Robinson Street in Norman. The fire is travelling from south to north.
Dangerous heat continues along with fire danger
Due to the fire’s proximity and current conditions, the Norman Water Treatment Plant has been evacuated as a precaution.
Firefighters are currently battling the flames to contain the fire. They are actively working to contain the fire and protect nearby property and infrastructure.
According to officials, residents in Coach Ct. are being asked to evacuate.
- Move away from the fire area and avoid driving into smoke or the direction of fire spread.
- Do not delay to gather belongings.
- Close all windows and doors as you leave your residence or building.
- Follow directions from fire and law enforcement personnel at all times.
- If you are unable to evacuate safely, shelter in place inside a sturdy building away from exterior walls and windows.
