Emergency crews responded swiftly Thursday to a train derailment in southern England, where a passenger train was reported to have flipped onto its side.
Images shared on social media revealed at least two train cars lying on their sides, with emergency personnel and others seen standing atop the overturned vehicles.
Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander expressed her concern on X, stating, “Deeply concerned of reports of a derailment involving a Southern train. Grateful to emergency services who are on the scene supporting those impacted.”
The East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were called to the incident near Lewes train station, with additional first responders also dispatched to the scene.
Authorities have not reported any injuries at this time.
