Flooding wipes out parts of downtown Cambridge City, prompting water rescues

Devastating flooding across Indiana

CAMBRIDGE CITY, Ind. (WISH) — Some of the worst flooding from this week’s storms happened in Cambridge City, located Wayne County. The city typically struggles with high water and flooding due to a nearby canal, but EMA crews told News 8 they’ve never seen flooding this bad.

While there was no confirmed number, a county EMA official said they probably performed “dozens” of water rescues throughout the morning and early afternoon.

The roads and homes surrounding Main and Plum Streets in Cambridge City have been entirely flooded, with water levels reaching the second-floor of some homes.
