IRMO, S.C. (WIS) – At least two Flock safety cameras in Irmo have been spray-coated with foam sealant, compromising the devices as debate over the surveillance technology continues nationwide.
The vandalized cameras are among 11 automated license plate readers installed throughout the town. Irmo police are aware of the vandalism but have not released additional information.
The damage comes less than a month after the Irmo Town Council approved a contract worth more than $400,000 to add 22 more cameras to the community. It’s unknown when the additional Flock cameras will be installed. Town Councilman Gabriel Penfield was the only member to vote against the contract…
