Husband of indicted Prichard water board manager, co-defendant in her case, dies

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – The husband of the former operations manager of Prichard’s water and sewer utility has died, according to her lawyer.

Anthony Bradley III, along with his wife Nia Malika Bradley, faced criminal charges related to embezzlement from the Prichard Water Works & Sewer Board. Prosecutors allege that Nia Bradley used her utility-issued credit card to buy hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of personal items. Law enforcement investigators in 2022 raided Bradley’s home in west Mobile and collected merchandise ranging from Nike and Adidas shoes to Louis Vuitton bags to Gucci apparel.

Law enforcement investigators charged Anthony Bradley with first-degree receiving stolen property and two counts of fraudulent use of a credit card. His attorney, Gordon Armstrong, confirmed that his client has died. He said he will file a formal notice of the death in the state court case.

Nia Bradley has pleaded guilty to related federal charges and awaits sentencing. In June, she sought permission to travel to Birmingham, where her husband had been hospitalized. Armstrong said Anthony Bradley, who had been ill for some time, never made it out of the hospital…
