Longtime San Antonio Sushi Zushi closes after nearly 20 years

Since 2001, Sushi Zushi has had a presence in the San Antonio area, but in recent years, the number of its locations has dwindled amid financial struggles that led the business to file for bankruptcy. The local sushi chain turned heads recently when it quietly shuttered one of its longest-running locations, though the closure may be part of a larger plan.

Sushi Zushi’s Lincoln Heights location is now closed after nearly two decades of operation. Reports place the original opening of the Basse Road outpost around 2007 or 2008. There are now only two Sushi Zushi locations, the one in Stone Oak and the first location off I-10 at the Colonnade. However, the Lincoln Heights location appears to be relocating to a different address.

“Lincoln Heights Location is moving…Stay tuned for a new Sushi Zushi in your area, please visit our other two San Antonio locations,” a message on Sushi Zushi’s website said. There was no indication as to where the Lincoln Heights location would be moving or when it might reopen…
