CLEVELAND, Ohio — Shoppers in Cuyahoga County outside Cleveland will soon be explicitly entitled to the lowest displayed or advertised price on an item, and retailers will have to refund an overcharge if a customer has already paid too much.
The protections are part of a July overhaul of the county’s weights-and-measures rules that adds standards for scanner accuracy, shelf pricing and consumer remedies.
The new provisions are not yet in effect. The July ordinance says they take effect when companion legislation establishing an Administrative Appeals Board becomes effective.
