MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — The corruption case against two Prichard police officers is moving forward. At Thursday’s preliminary hearing, investigators outlined an alleged bribe that led to Emanuel Dotch and Jihad Irby’s charges.
Investigators said Dotch and Irby were working off-duty security at The Tree BBQ & Lounge on May 16 when they detained two people.
The Mobile County District Attorney’s Office said Dotch and Irby accepted a $1,000 bribe to not arrest them.
“The fact that you had police officers on duty that were accepting bribes, does undermine public confidence in law enforcement,” said Mobile County District Attorney Keith Blackwood. “That’s why it’s so important to prosecute cases like this, to restore that trust,” he continued.
