SHREWSBURY, MA — Authorities have identified the body recovered from Lake Quinsigamond as 31-year-old Yunio Ciromine Antonio Chaparro of Worcester. The Worcester County District Attorney’s Office said Chaparro was found after being reported missing Sunday afternoon.
First responders were called to the lake around 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Crews searched for hours before locating his body Monday morning.
Search teams used boats, shoreline crews, divers and underwater drones
The response stretched across the water and the shoreline, with teams checking the lake by boat while others searched from land. Divers and underwater drones were also brought in during the effort.
According to the Shrewsbury Fire Department, sonar was used to locate Chaparro’s body. It was recovered around 11 a.m. Monday.
Officials have not said what Chaparro was doing at the lake
