Cleveland police seek driver in hit-and-run involving wheelchair

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – The Cleveland Division of Police Accident Investigation Unit is asking for help in identifying a suspect in a hit-and-run crash involving a wheelchair Friday.

Police say the incident occurred on July 2 at 5:15 p.m., when police received a call about a crash involving a pedestrian in a motorized wheelchair crossing East 116th Street near the intersection of Buckeye Road.

Police report the suspect’s car was a gray Ford Escape traveling westbound on Buckeye Road and making a left turn to head southbound onto East 116th Street.

According to police, when the Ford Escape was making the turn, it struck the wheelchair and the victim in the crosswalk…
