A Delaware County man has been sentenced to more than six years in federal prison for his role in a massive scheme involving stolen U.S. Treasury checks that prosecutors say resulted in more than $121 million in losses.
Alexander Telewoda, 26, was sentenced after admitting his involvement in the scheme, which centered on stolen government checks that were resold and used as part of a broader criminal operation, according to federal authorities.
Investigators said Telewoda played a role in obtaining and distributing stolen checks. The checks were reportedly taken from the mail and then sold to others who could alter, cash or otherwise exploit the financial instruments…
