James Abdnor Center for Advanced Manufacturing set to open at STC in 2028

Lawmakers, politicians and educators alike broke ground Friday, Aug. 14, on the future site of the James Abdnor Center for Advanced Manufacturing at Southeast Technical College.

Named for former U.S. Sen. James Abdnor from South Dakota, who mentored U.S. Sen. Majority Leader John Thune, R-South Dakota, the new 53,000 square foot Center will house programs in advanced manufacturing maintenance technology, advanced manufacturing automation technology and mechanical engineering.

The new Center will link to the current Ed Wood Trade and Industry Center on campus, expanding room for STC’s welding laboratory in the process…
