CLEVELAND, Ohio — Buc-ee’s has been operating in Ohio for only four months, but two Ohio convenience-store businesses are already defending their names and mascots against federal trademark lawsuits from the Texas travel-center chain.
The cases involve very different defendants — a 42-store chain using a moose mascot and a single Beavercreek store using a beaver — but Buc-ee’s makes the same central allegation: Their overall branding could cause consumers to believe they are connected to Buc-ee’s.
Neither case has been decided, and Buc-ee’s claims of consumer confusion have not been proven…
