KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Emergency crews and state transportation officials are on the scene of a multi-vehicle crash that is heavily impacting morning traffic on Interstate 40 Westbound in Knox County.

The collision was officially reported at 10:15 AM ET on Saturday, August 15, 2026.
The incident occurred along Interstate 40 Westbound near mile marker 381.4. According to dispatch reports, the crash has blocked the left shoulder as well as the two left lanes of the four-lane interstate.
Anticipated Traffic Delays and Alternative Routes
Because half of the travel lanes are blocked on this busy stretch of highway, significant backups are building.
