Accidental overdose deaths last month were the lowest on record since the San Francisco medical examiner began issuing monthly reports in 2020, according to preliminary numbers released Friday.
There were 34 such deaths recorded in July — 34.6% fewer than in the same month last year — bringing this year’s total so far to 296, a reduction of nearly 30% in the total number of deaths so far in 2026 compared with the same period last year.
