Houston is about to lose something that’s been keeping the heat in check

Houston’s best chance for rain is about to disappear as a weather pattern notorious for producing some of the city’s hottest summer days takes hold.

High atmospheric pressure will strengthen over Southeast Texas this weekend, keeping most of the Houston area dry Saturday while temperatures climb into the upper 90s. Heat index values, which account for humidity, could approach the National Weather Service’s heat advisory thresholds.
