A man was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries after being stabbed near 19th Avenue and Cactus Road in north Phoenix, and as of Thursday, police had not released a suspect description or made an arrest. Officers found the victim at the scene following the attack, and investigators say the victim and the suspect may know each other.
The stabbing was first reported by FOX5 Vegas, which noted that police are asking anyone with information to contact Silent Witness. The intersection falls within the Phoenix Police Department’s Cactus Park Precinct, which has leaned on technology in recent years to combat crime in the area — the precinct launched a Real Time Operations Center in March 2024, the first such facility built by Phoenix PD, using camera networks and real-time surveillance to monitor high-risk crime spots, according to the City of Phoenix.
A Corridor With a Violent Track Record
This is not the first violent incident to hit this stretch of 19th Avenue this year. Just two months ago, on June 16, Phoenix police responded to a domestic shooting near the same 19th Avenue and Cactus Road intersection, arresting a 24-year-old man accused of critically injuring his brother during an argument, as reported by 12News. The area has also seen violence stretch back over a decade — in August 2013, a homicide investigation was opened near the same intersection after a business owner discovered a man stabbed to death behind a commercial building, a case that was eventually solved years later through a DNA match, per ABC15 Arizona.

City Investment and Legal Stakes
