The Saline Area Senior Center (SASC) held the annual Mayor’s Conference on Friday, August 14, from 8:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m. The Mayor’s Conference gives participants a chance to connect with local leaders, learn about issues affecting the community, and take part in panel discussions.
The event began with a continental breakfast followed by a welcome and then community updates from Mayor Brian Marl and Saline Area Schools Superintendent Rachel Kowalski.
Marl has hosted this event for 13 years now, as long as the program has been running. He stated, “I actually helped organize/host a similar event when I worked for former State Representative Kathy Angerer (2005-2010). These conferences were not only informative, but also fun for attendees. I thought it was appropriate to bring something comparable to Saline.”
When asked what he enjoys most about the Mayor’s Conference, he replied it is “interfacing and conversing with our local seniors, and hearing their concerns and their perspective on local issues, specifically, the challenges faced by city government.”…
