Man struck and killed after lying down in traffic in Clermont

A 31-year-old Haines City man was killed early Saturday morning after a witness said he lay down in the path of an oncoming car on U.S. Hwy. 27 in Clermont.

The man was walking in the left-turn lane of U.S. Hwy. 27, south of Cagan Crossings Boulevard, at 6:39 a.m. when he entered the northbound inside lane, according to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol.

A witness told investigators the man then lay down directly in the path of a northbound 2015 Kia Forte. The undercarriage of the vehicle struck the man, and he was pronounced dead at the scene…
