A drier Sunday for most, but the heat continues. A better chance for storms, some strong, returns on Monday.
- Today: Staying steamy under a mix of sun and clouds, with very limited P.M. storm chances (20%). High: 96° (Heat Index: 105°+).
- Tonight: Staying warm and sticky overnight. Low: 76°.
- Monday: Hot and humid with scattered P.M. storms (60%). Some could be strong to severe. High: 95°.
Rain chances look lower on Sunday, with most areas remaining rain-free, but a stray storm over the Smokies or Cumberland Plateau cannot be completely ruled out. For the majority of us, it will just be hot and “tropical-feeling” under a mix of sun and clouds. Make sure to hydrate and practice heat safety with heat index values in the 105° to 110° range.
Tonight will stay very mild in the middle 70s with a sticky feel and a light breeze through the night keeping fog at bay.
We will stay steamy on Monday as well, with highs remaining in the mid-90s and Heat Index Values around 105°+, but it looks like a cold front will push through in the afternoon/evening hours. Along the front we could see some stronger storms with another damaging wind risk…
