Inspector pays trio of visits to problem-plagued restaurant in The Villages

A health inspector spent three consecutive days this past week at a restaurant in The Villages that has been plagued with problems over the past year.

An inspector initially visited Perkins Restaurant and Bakery at 905 Bichara Blvd. at La Plaza Grande on Tuesday, Aug. 11, and found three high-priority, five intermediate and 11 basic violations, according to reports on file with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

During that initial inspection, a “stop sale” order was issued for butter that had been left out for more than four hours and was found at 49 degrees. Temperature abuse was also noted for cheese, bacon and milk. The inspector also found raw chicken improperly stored behind raw beef.
