Georgia man accused of stealing $22K in jury duty phone scam

A 20-year-old Georgia man was arrested in the Florida Keys after investigators say he was involved in a phone scam that convinced a victim to hand over more than $22,000.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the victim reported in May that he had received multiple calls from people claiming to be with the Monroe County and Lee County sheriff’s offices.

The callers falsely told the victim he had missed jury duty and would be arrested unless he paid a large fee…
