Pre-evacuation warning issued due to HAZMAT fire: CSFD

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Fire Department said HAZMAT crews have been inside the building where a fire is active but contained in part of a facility in the area of Tenderfoot Hill Road, where a chemical gas is stored. CSFD said the fire is contained and that fire crews will be on scene for several hours.

A pre-evacuation warning is still in place for the area of Tenderfoot Hill Rd. between venetucci Boulevard and Tenderfoot Hill Street near Lake Avenue.

CSFD reported that HAZMAT crews are making entry into the facility to determine the next steps in ensuring the fire is out and the chemical is contained in the area of Lake Avenue and Venetucci Boulevard at around 5 p.m. on Sunday.

A pre-evacuation warning has been issued for the area of Tenderfoot Hill Road between Venetucci Boulevard and Tenderfoot Hill Street, near Lake Avenue, due to a HAZMAT fire in the area, according to the Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD). Those in the area should be prepared to evacuate if needed.

According to Peak Alerts, the pre-evacuation warning was issued for the area due to a fire near 1150 East Cheyenne Mountain Boulevard. People in the area should be prepared to leave, and if anyone is in danger or needs extra time or help to leave, they should evacuate now.

According to CSFD, crews responded to a fire at Microchip. The fire was isolated to an area of the facility that contained a chemical gas. HAZMAT crews are on scene along with several other CSFD crews. People are asked to avoid the area…
