Aircraft emergency drill set for Lake Erie

CLEVELAND (WJW) – The Burke Lakefront Airport is notifying the public that an exercise drill will take place later this week simulating an aircraft emergency in Lake Erie.

The drill is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 19. Participants will start to gather at 8 a.m.

According to a media release, the drill is designed to test and evaluate the airport’s overall response during a water rescue emergency near the airport and will include participation from mutual aid partners.

“Drills like this are conducted to ensure that all participating agencies can respond effectively and work together seamlessly during a real-world emergency,” states the release.
