Data center proposal dropped in Franklin County

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) – A proposed AI data center near Rocky Mount has been dropped, according to a Franklin County supervisor, following months of community opposition to what was known internally as “Project Flash.”

Franklin County Boone District Supervisor Mike Meredith said the county received verification last week that the project would not move forward.

“Project Flash is not proceeding,” Meredith said.
