Defense, passing game shine in scrimmage

The South Granville defensive secondary lived up to its expectations in the Friday, Aug. 14, football scrimmage with Ravenscroft.

After a brief weather delay, the team hit the field for the final tune-up before the first regular season game.

The Vikings defense held Ravenscroft to 149 total offense in the play controlled scrimmage.

The defensive secondary swatted away multiple passes and managed to haul down three interceptions. Bradley Graham and Tyrell Thornton made interceptions for the Vikings. Ellis Robinson had a pick-six or interception returned for a touchdown for the Vikings.

Elijah Aultman chased the Ravens’ quarterback around in the backfield and finally brought him down for a sack.

The offense, led by Elijah Litz at quarterback, put together a solid offensive performance with nine first downs and 181 total offense on 26 plays.

The explosive offense came on four touchdown passes and two touchdowns on the ground.

Litz threw 12 passes and completed seven for 114 yards and four touchdowns. Litz spread the passes amongst five receivers.

Thai Davis caught a 15-yard touchdown, Tyrell Thornton made a one-yard reception for a touchdown and Landyn Roberts made one catch for a two-yard gain.

Roberts carried the ball six times and gained 25-yards for the Vikings. Litz ran the ball twice for 25-yards and one touchdown. Azariah Bolden had three carries for 14 yards, Luke Wimsatt rushed once for five-yards and James Whitted lost two-yards on two carries.
