San Antonio is getting a third hit of this cannabis-themed sandwich shop

Colorado-based Cheba Hut is expanding its San Antonio footprint with a third location in a growing corridor near the University of Texas at San Antonio. While the business is under construction, the cannabis-themed sandwich shop’s general manager was able to provide a few new details.

The new Cheba Hut is going up on UTSA Boulevard, in what appears to be part of The Merc, a large development taking shape near UTSA. MySA has been closely covering the development as it has progressed through various stages of planning and construction. We reached out to Cheba Hut directly to learn more about its new location.

“We are thrilled to take our established combination of great food and great vibes to the UTSA area and look forward to serving the surrounding communities as well,” said Flip Aubrey, general manager of the new Cheba Hut outpost as well as the Redland Plaza location. “Construction is underway, and we look forward to opening the doors in early 2027.”

Cheba Hut began its foray into San Antonio in 2021 with the opening of its first location on Alamo Ranch Parkway. In 2023, a second location opened off Loop 1604 and Redland Road.
