KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Monday night’s Kalamazoo City Commission meeting was packed with protestors calling for leaders to remove flock cameras from the city.
Even though the controversial camera system was not on the agenda, several dozen people voiced their concerns over data collection and police access. One of the leaders for the campaign against cameras called on city commissioners to table a proposed moratorium on data center projects to also include the use of flock cameras.
“I don’t think that American citizens or any citizen should be under constant surveillance like this,” a protestor told News 8. “I think we have seen countless time and time again the abuses of powers like this. I mean, there have been many firings of police department individuals. I think the harassment of exes, that has been a common occurrence in from police officers harassing their exes. I don’t think anybody should be stalked…
