School board unanimously accepts Fayette County Public Schools’ superintendent’s retirement

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – UPDATE: The Fayette County Board of Education formally accepted the retirement of Superintendent Dr. Demetrus Liggins on Monday.

After two months on paid leave, Liggins is no longer an employee of the district.

Liggins had initially proposed the board pay him $1.6 million as part of a separation agreement. He walked away without a settlement.

Retirement ends contract early

June 10 was the last time Liggins was seen at Fayette County Schools. He no longer works for the district, ending his contract three years early…
