Lexington mass shootings: 4 of 5 cases since 2021 remain unsolved

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – A mass shooting at Charles Young Park on Saturday ended Lexington’s streak of more than 150 days without a homicide and marked the city’s fifth mass shooting since 2021, and the only one of the five to be solved, according to a WKYT Investigates review of Lexington Police crime data.

The Gun Violence Archive defines a mass shooting as any incident in which four or more people are shot or killed.

Four prior cases remain open

On August 9, 2024, six people were shot on National Avenue, off Winchester Road. Antoine Clay, 31, was killed. Four women and one man were also injured. Lexington Police crime data shows the case remains unsolved.

On August 27, 2022, seven people were shot during a private event on Legends Lane, near what is now CommonSpirit Ballpark, where the Lexington Legends play. The shooting occurred early on a Saturday morning. Crime data shows that the case also remains unsolved…
