FATAL CRASH: North Carolina Driver Killed in I-65 Collision; Police Searching for Louisville Tow Truck Driver Who Left Scene

SHEPHERDSVILLE, Ky. — A North Carolina man died following a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 65 in Bullitt County, and Kentucky State Police are searching for a tow truck driver who authorities say left the scene following the crash.

Bullitt County Dispatch contacted Kentucky State Police Post 4 just before midnight on Friday, August 14, 2026, requesting troopers and an accident reconstructionist to investigate a fatal collision along northbound I-65 near the 112-mile marker in Shepherdsville.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Luis Gonzalez Perez, 34, of Louisville, was operating a wrecker hooked to a bobtail tractor parked along the highway shoulder. The tractor was facing northbound while the wrecker was facing southbound in preparation to transport the tractor.
