Yssael Lantigua-Alecon, 45, a longtime fugitive on the Massachusetts State Police Most Wanted list, was arrested Monday morning in Hazleton City, Pennsylvania. He faces murder and illegal firearms charges in the 2015 killing of 21-year-old Joselo “Jose” Campusano at Bali’s Restaurant in Lawrence.
On May 1, 2015, Campusano was shot multiple times in the bathroom of the busy bar at 59 Essex Street. Authorities said Lantigua-Alecon, then of Methuen and originally from the Dominican Republic, followed the victim inside after the two had been drinking together. He fled the scene and later disappeared. Police described the shooting as non-random and labeled the suspect armed and dangerous. He used multiple aliases and fraudulent identities.
