Two Charlotte eateries now face $800 fines or eight-day liquor license suspensions because they offered happy hour drink discounts. Kitchen & Kocktails and Condado Tacos both ran afoul of North Carolina law, which prohibits happy hour pricing on alcoholic drinks.
On March 20, an undercover ABC officer bought a 1792 Old Fashioned at 6:17 p.m. The price was $17. That same day at 8:22 p.m., a different undercover officer paid $21 for the identical drink.
ABC officers then informed the manager the establishment had broken the law by offering a happy hour discount. Kitchen & Kocktails now owes $800 or will forfeit its liquor license for eight days…
