S.A. archbishop tells Catholics not to attend Comal County church

The Archdiocese of San Antonio has excommunicated and laicized a Comal County priest after a church tribunal found he committed schism and has directed Catholics to stop attending or supporting his church, Mission of Divine Mercy.

A church tribunal found that John Mary Foster committed “a crime against the faith for his refusal of submission to the Roman Pontiff,” Archbishop Gustavo GarcĂ­a-Siller said in a statement. Foster was also laicized, meaning he was formally removed from the priesthood.

Mission of Divine Mercy is located on Indian Chief Trail, south of Canyon Lake. It was founded by Foster in 2001, according to its website…
