As Florida’s QB battle keeps barreling down the winding road of fall camp, one of the things we here at Hail Florida Hail, along with most Gator fans, want to make sure is that whoever wins the job does so because they are the best man for the job. As Aaron Philo and Tramell Jones have duked it out, Jon Sumrall has made it clear that Philo came to town with a built-in advantage, given his knowledge of the Buster Faulker offense.
That’s fair enough, and it makes sense, but Sumrall said something else on Monday that felt like a 180 from what he said last month at SEC Media Days.

At his press conference on Monday, Sumrall talked about Florida’s scrimmage and how both QBs did. Philo had the only interception of the scrimmage, and Sumrall detailed it:
“You know, the one interception we threw on Saturday, like as you watch it on tape, you’re like, where do you go with the football? You know where you need to go with the football there? Nowhere. Because everybody was just blanketed. There’s nothing to do. So sometimes tuck it, give what you can get. If we get the first, (down) great. If we don’t, I like to just punt.”…
