STATEN ISLAND N.Y. (PIX11) — A site that was a former garage for the New York City Department of Sanitation in Staten Island will be transformed into a complex that will include affordable housing, Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced Tuesday.
The equipment that was formerly housed in the garage, located at 539 Jersey St., is being transferred to a brand-new facility located at Fresh Kills.

Replacing the garage will be a new complex that will include 232 affordable homes, public open space, and a grocery store, according to city officials.
