USS Iowa crew visits Iowa to share submarine experiences with veterans

JOHNSTON, Iowa – The crew of the USS Iowa is visiting the state its submarine was named after, sharing stories about life aboard one of the U.S. Navy’s newest fast-attack submarines.

Eight crew members from the USS Iowa (SSN-797) are spending five days in Des Moines and Marshalltown. They’re meeting with Iowans and veterans and talking about what it’s like to live and work aboard a military submarine for months at a time.
