Winn-Dixie Still Planned to Close Despite Pending Changes in Parent Company Ownership

Last Thursday’s announcement by a New Hampshire grocery company that it intends to become the majority owner of The Winn-Dixie Company LLC by early 2027 begged the question: How would this impact the pending closure of the Callahan Winn-Dixie? Would perhaps the store no longer be closed in October as earlier announced as part of a planned transition to an ALDI?

The answer is no.

Plans announced last week by C&S Wholesale Grocers, based in Keene, New Hampshire, to buy out other partners in the 2025 deal that purchased Winn-Dixie will not alter previous plans to close numerous Winn-Dixie locations in NE Florida and transition those locations to the ALDI brand, according to information provided to BuzzTown Media Group…
