Delaware Caregivers Encouraged to Take Time for Themselves at Aug. 26 Event
NEW CASTLE, Del. — When Mike Minor suddenly became a caregiver for his wife, Virginia, he quickly learned a lesson he now hopes other Delaware caregivers will take to heart: You do not have to do it alone.
Mike and Virginia’s lives changed when Virginia suffered a stroke followed by cardiac arrest. Their familiar routines disappeared, and Mike found himself navigating the responsibilities of caregiving without knowing where to turn.
“I felt like I was walking around in circles. I didn’t know what to do, then a friend invited me to the support group with Easterseals,” said Mike, of New Castle. “People in the group know what you are going through and that is very comforting.”…
