A Boise police corporal alleged that he was injured during a role-play training exercise gone wrong in February and ultimately needed a piece of his spine removed, according to a tort claim filed on Aug. 11 against the city of Boise, the Boise Police Department and its employees.
James Cromwell, who said in the claim he’s worked for the Boise Police Department for 22 years, is asking for more than $1 million in damages after the alleged incident “resulted in ongoing, extreme pain.”
“There is not a future where Cpl. Cromwell will be pain free as he was once before this injury occurred,” according to the claim. “It is unclear whether Cpl. Cromwell will regain function of his back, leg, or other physical strength as necessary to live and work normally.”…
