CLEVELAND, Ohio — Summer is winding down, school bells are already starting to ring, and life lessons can still be enjoyed with a family fishing adventure. A couple of grandkids proved that point this past week.
Living many miles away, they were eager for a visit because of a promise of going fishing for the very first time with a grandfather who knows the ropes in connecting 4-year-olds with lively panfish.
They were equipped with spincast fishing tackle with light fishing line, a small round red-and-white bobber, and lead split shot pinched on the line to weigh down a small hook baited with a piece of worm. The youngsters quickly learned to pitch the float and bait a few feet from shore, where grandpa knew bluegills and small yellow perch were hiding in the weeds…
