Sioux Falls, S.D. (KELO) – An advisory has been assigned to Wall Lake warning people to not swim in the lake for the time being.
The South Dakota Department of Agriculture & Natural Resources released an advisory on August 11th, warning that harmful algae were found in Wall Lake. The advisory indicates “that high-risk conditions exist for water recreators or there has been a confirmed report of symptoms of algal toxin exposure”.
At the lake, algae can be seen on the shoreline as well as floating on some parts of the lake’s surface. There was no signage indicating the presence of the algae.
Benjamin Koisti from the Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources told KELOLAND, “The Department tests Wall Lake three times per year, during peak recreation season in June, July, and August.”…
