New 287-acre nature preserve opens in Alachua County

MELROSE, Fla. (WCJB) – Alachua County officials held a ribbon-cutting Friday morning for Black Lake Preserve, a new 287-acre nature preserve.

The preserve is located just south of Lake Santa Fe. It was acquired by the Alachua County Forever Program in 2020 for a little more than $2 million using the Wild Spaces Public Spaces surtax.
