Fraudulent checks, fake names: Nassau County arrest exposes multi-state scheme: NCSO

NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. – A Nassau County man was arrested after investigators linked him to a fraud scheme that they said left victims across multiple states out of thousands of dollars.

David Ford faces charges of grand theft, organized fraud and writing false checks. The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office said he used fraudulent checks to purchase high-value goods from unsuspecting sellers — then vanished.

The case began to unravel in December 2025, when a Nassau County victim reported being swindled after selling four high-end RC cars through Facebook Marketplace for $2,500. The check Ford provided bounced, and the phone number he gave the seller was disconnected shortly after, detectives said…
