The Mill, Wilmington’s pioneering coworking community, opened a new location in Seaford’s historic Nylon Capital Center in June, marking a major milestone in both the company’s growth and Seaford’s revitalization efforts.
Founded in 2016 in the Nemours Building, The Mill was built on a simple but ambitious idea: Coworking had to offer more than traditional office space—especially as freelancing and nontraditional work soared. “The freelancing boom has just been way bigger than we even anticipated,” says founder and developer Rob Herrera, and today “more than half of the American population are not W-2 employees.”
The shift of remote work after COVID-19 fundamentally changed the market. “We’re not competing with other office space, and we’re not competing with other coworking spaces,” Herrera says. “We’re competing with something much harder, which is somebody’s home office. We need to be better than your home office.”…
