Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders declares state of emergency in response to wildfires

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders has declared a state of emergency due to raging wildfires in the state.

The governor’s office announced that the state of emergency was declared due to wildfires that broke out on Thursday across Arkansas.

Over 2,000-acre Union County wildfire forces evacuations

One such wildfire was in Union County, which, according to officials, has burned more than 2,000 acres and resulted in the evacuation of at least 150 residents.

Sanders stated that $250,000 from the Governor’s Disaster Response and Recovery Fund can be used by the director of the Arkansas Division of Emergency Management “defray both program and administrative costs” in response to the wildfires…
